AEROBICS FITNESS
SYLLABUS
*Course Description: An exercise program of choreographed routines of
Òcontinuous rhythmic activityÓ through combining motor skills such as jogging, dance
steps and various other exercises that is vigorous in nature.
*Course Objectives:
At the successful completion of this
course, the student should be able to:
1.
Demonstrate the following techniques
a. Proper use of dumbbells when performing
floor work routines
b. Use of aerobic steps for low and high
impact aerobics
c. Proper warm-up, stretching, and
cool-down techniques
d. Perform moderate to vigorous aerobic
routines on cue.
2.
Explain concepts relative to the subject of aerobics
a. Calculate target heart rate by pulse
finding and counting
b. Injury prevention
3.
Demonstrate improvement in the following areas
a. Present a more muscular, toned body
image
b. Cardiovascular efficiency.
*Adequate Equipment Needed: shirt and shorts (school appropriate),
socks and tennis shoes.
*Shoes - Bring a separate pair
for class if possible, if not you must clean off the bottoms everyday before
class. Shoes that leave black
marks on the floor will not be allowed.
*Locker Clean Out
Students must have everything cleaned
out of their lockers prior to Christmas break, spring break, and the last day
of school.
**Items in the locker room may be kept
in your locker or on top of the lockers (except during your scheduled class or
practice time) If items are found
else where the instructor will pick them up and you will need to address
him/her about getting them back.
*Non Suits
Suiting out is not an option it is a
requirement. You are graded on
participation. If you do not participate, you cannot receive a
grade.
It is recommended that the student bring
an extra set of clothing and leave it in their locker.
*Locker
*Students will be provided with a locker
at the start of the year. The
locker should remain locked at all times. If you leave items outside your locker or leave your locker
unlocked expect the items to get stolen.
If items are left out of lockers at the end of the week they will be
discarded. Eureka is not
responsible for lost or stolen items.
*Misc.
*Showers are optional but highly
recommended on days of vigorous activity.
*Students will remain in the locker room
after showering until the bell rings.
*Students should take his/her clothing
home at the end of each week to be washed!
*Absolutely no jewelry or gum will be
allowed
