                            Projects Due at School                             February 8, 2011

 

                               Eureka Science Fair Open House                  February 8, 2011

                                                                                                              6:00 –7:00 p.m.

 

Projects need to be brought to school on  February 8, 2011. Students need to store their projects in their science classrooms until after lunch. The small gym will be used for the Science Fair. We will wait until after 5th hour to set up.  Students will be called out of their classes when they are needed for set up. The projects will be judged after school. We ask that no students or parents be present for the judging. The Science Fair will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. the evening of February 8, 2011.  All projects will be given back to the students the following day.

 

The projects will be awarded participation certificates, as well as a rating of excellent, superior or highly superior. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive medals and savings bonds.  The winners and others with highly superior ratings will advance to the Regional Science Fair.

 

PROJECT TIME LINE

 

November 17th  – Have 3 projects in mind, which you are interested in doing.

                           Have your teacher approve one of your topics.

 

November 18th – Begin researching your topic. Take notes on the material you find.

                             Fill out entry form if you intend to display your project at the science fair.

 

November 18th 

a.)    Get journal and begin recording everything you do; use dates and times with each entry.

b.)    Organize everything you plan to do.

c.)    Form a hypothesis.

d.)    Write out your procedure.

e.)    Gather your materials.

f.)      Write your rough draft of your report, using the information you have found.

g.)    Begin experiment.

 

December 10th – Turn in your science fair entry form. Have your teacher check your work                        

                        so far. You should have everything mentioned above completed.

 

January 3rd   – End experiment.

 

January 3rd  – Write final draft for project. Include Results and Conclusions from

                        your experiment.  Begin back board display for the science fair.

 

February 8th  – Bring project to school. Set up starts at 1:00 p.m.

                           Come and Go open house 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
