U.S.D. #389 TO SPONSOR SCREENING

“COUNT YOUR KID IN” preschool screening will be held April 19th, 20th, and 21st for children in the Eureka Unified School District #389. The district is sponsoring this screening which will be held at the Jefferson Street Baptist Church at 300 S. Jefferson in Eureka.

The free screening can be scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on April 19th, 20th, and 21st. Parents must schedule an appointment for their child by calling 583-7530/1-800-498-3006 or dropping by the Central Office at 216 North Main in Eureka, unless other arrangements are made.

All children birth to five years that are not in public school are eligible for the monthly screening which includes language, development, vision, and hearing.

Children who are four years old by August 31, 2010 wanting to apply for Chapter 1 Prekindergarten class must attend the April screening.

The U.S.D. #389 School District will be offering the special education services to children ages three through five if needed in the fall of 2010. Those eligible for those services will be determined after the screening.
