EJSHS: Going Green
General Science II: Research Symposium
by Stacey Hart
April 26, 2009
This spring students in Ms. Hart's General Science II class are taking to the streets, water ways, and even homes on a mission to go green! The theme was set, and the students responded by designing experiments to research environmental practices, behaviors, and attitudes. From comparing vermi-compost rates of different species of earthworm and the effect of compost on plant production to
water waste studies in households and the phantom energy load of unplugged appliances, these projects have one goal: to educate, motivate, and inspire the community to live a greener lifestyle. In the end, the students will present their projects to their peers in a persuasive manner. They will also have to create an informational pamphlet that will be available to the public that summarizes their results.
