Does the Intensity of Exercise Affect Heart Rate?

by Pam Collinge

September 16, 2009

After studying the cardiovascular system of the body, sixth graders completed an experiment in which they tested the effect of intensity of exercise on their bodies' heart rates.

Final results were written into lab reports.  Conclusions were compared to a virtual lab in Discovery Education and results were found to be consistent.

Students have concluded that routine physical activity helps all of the systems of the body perform better, varying  exercise routines and intensity of each workout, will benefit the body more than doing the same thing everyday  . . . and the best place to count the beats per minute of your heart is in your neck!
