Letter from Mr. Leis
The school year is off to a great start. We have another wonderful group of students here at Marshall Elementary. Currently we have 385 students enrolled in our building with our largest class being Kindergarten at 58 students.
Current Class Sizes
Kindergarten 58
First Grade 53
Second Grade 43
Third Grade 51
Fourth Grade 38
Fifth Grade 50
Sixth Grade 50
We have several new staff members around Marshall as well. Our three new teachers are Mrs. Harrison teaching Kindergarten, Mrs. Neill teaching second grade, and Mrs. Samuels teaching Title 1. Mrs. Wade is our one new para and she is in Title.
Please take a look at our insert about Title 1 and our new Tiered system that is in use in our building. Students may use terms like “Tier 1, 2 or 3” as well as “Title” to describe classes they attend during the day in grades Kindergarten through third.
We feel the implementation of this Tier system last year was a huge success. Last year our students and staff worked very hard and were rewarded for that hard work. Not a single student scored in the academic warning (lowest) category on our state assessments. This is a tremendous accomplishment for all in our building.
I want to express my desire to make Marshall Elementary a place where all students come first. I also understand the trust each parent must hold in our staff to make them feel this is the best place to send their children. Please feel free to contact me or stop in whenever there is a question or concern about the education of your child.
