Course Purpose

Students will be expected to demonstrate a variety of knowledge and skills associated with the study of English language and literature. Students will be asked to demonstrate a capacity for self-driven study by reading and reporting on the completion of a minimum of two outside reading novels. Students are required to successfully complete a 2 – 3 page informative research paper that demonstrates a grasp of the requirements of conducting research, supporting evidence, and documenting sources. Students will read, analyze, discuss, and interpret elements of literature demonstrating students’ specific skills as dictated by the Reading and Writing Standards of the State of Kansas.
