by Sheila Koup

May 23, 2009

This course is designed to prepare graduating seniors for the rigors of college coursework. Students will be expected to demonstrate a variety of knowledge and skills associated with the study of English language and literature. Students will be asked to demonstrate a capacity for self-driven study by reading, analyzing, and reporting on the completion of a minimum of three novels (list provided). Students are required to successfully complete a five to seven page analytical research paper, based on topics provided, that demonstrates a full grasp of the requirements of conducting research, creating an argument, supporting claims, and documenting sources. Students will read, analyze, discuss, and interpret elements of British literature providing evidence of the students’ mastery of specific skills as dictated by the Reading and Writing Standards of the State of Kansas.
