STATE BOUND!
October 25, 2009
On a day that was to be special for the Lady Tornadoes, a day that was to be an accumulation of years of hard work, a day that would bring that "BIG DREAM" to the volleyball program, IT WAS!
The Lady Tornadoes punched their ticket to Salina on Saturday at the 3A Sub-State in Fredonia and their 3rd trip since 1997. Eureka completely dominated action throughout the day and were never really pushed as they disposed of all three opponents in 2 games.
Eureka went in as the #1 seed and opened up action with winless Bluestem. The ladies jumped up big in the first game and never looked back as they advanced to the semi-finals with a 25-7, 25-14 win. Northern Heights #5 seed knocked off #4 seed and TVL foe Burlington to advance to semis. On the bottom of the bracket Neodesha and Fredonia both advanced to the semis. In the Semis Eureka quickly disposed of Northern Heights 25-19, 25-10 to advance to the finals. On the other side of the bracket Neodesha won an exciting 3 game match to set up an all TVL final against the top two teams in the league.
Eureka jumped on Neodesha early and often and never let the Bluestreaks get into any kind of rhythm. Eureka served well, passed great, and pounded the ball. A match that would figure to be close never was, as Eureka ran away with the Championship 25-8, 25-11 to set up pandemonium on the court as the "MAN CAVE" stormed the court to celebrate with the victorious Lady Tornadoes. Saturdays Results
