Jr. High Basketball Has Successful Season
March 02, 2010
The Jr. high boys’ basketball team just finished a very successful season. The varsity won the TVL title with a perfect record of 14-0. They finished second in the TVL North tournament, beating Fredonia, but losing to Yates Center in the finals. The JV also had a winning record, finishing at 8-6. The team made strong progress throughout the season, averaging over 43 points per game, while holding the opposition to just over 20 points per game.
The varsity scored 50+ points on several occasions, and was only held under 30 (29) once. The members of the varsity included Hunter Denner, Dalton Lyon, Dale Woodburn, Rustin Shaw, Colton Pitko, Logan Hayes, Wes Moots, and Quade McCoy.
The JV started out a bit slow, but picked up steam as the season went along. The guys were able to score in the 40’s a few times themselves! The JV players were Hunter Denner, Casey Garner, Dale Woodburn, Tre Parmes, Jacob Fanning, Brandon Boardman, Kain Strickler, Tanner Whittaker, Torren Frakes, and Stephen Randle.
The varsity had two 7th grade starters, so the future looks bright. Many thanks go out to Robert Obourn for filming, and to Larissa Wells and Bill Pitko for taking pictures throughout the year. Also, a big thanks to Coach Denner for his assistance throughout the season. Congratulations, guys!
