8th Grade Rainforest Project 2010

May 19, 2010

8th Grade Science students built a replication of the Amazon Rainforest as a culmination project to their study of the Amazon Rainforest.  Students researched all aspects of the Amazon and Brazil.  They then chose one plant and one animal to do extensive research on.  This was followed by the creation of a life-sized model of each.  Students then erected the jungle, compete with a water fall and pond, and added their flora and fauna to the rainforest.

Prior to the construction the 7th and 8th grade students sold t-shirts sponsored by the Earth Foundation.  All of the profits from the shirt sales went to help save the Amazon Rainforest this year.  The students sold enough shirts to save 11.7 acres.

Parents and Teachers were invited to a breakfast hosted by the 8th grade students in their Amazon Rainforest at EJSHS on Tuesday, May 18, 2010.
