National Honor Society 2012

by Kim Ring

January 30, 2012

Eight new members were inducted into National Honor Society on January 17, 2012.  The new members include Matthew Winn, Mathew Alford, Haley Pitko, Bailee Barrett, Megan Bitler, Jordan Himes, Abby Basham, and Randee Corns.  Congratulations to those students!

Edward Rynearson, as an honor, founded National Honor Society in 1921 for academically adept individuals, and as a service organization to build leadership and character.  2012 was the 19th induction at Eureka High School.  Students were required to turn in an application for admittance, have a grade point average of at least 3.4, be involved in school and community activities, and received at least a 4.5 rating on the rubrics completed by teachers for leadership and character.  2012 is the first year that sophomores have been allowed to apply for and be inducted into National Honor Society.
