Pitko Commits to Kansas State
October 12, 2011
Senior Haley Pitko recently accepted a scholarship offer and committed to Kansas State University to throw the javelin for the Wildcats next year. Kansas State has established itself as an elite program at the national level and Big 12 thanks to the successes of its athletes at the NCAA Championships. K-State has 32 NCAA Championships in its history with two of those coming in the Spring of 2011.
In 2011, the program accomplished something it had yet to do in its storied history. Both the men's and women's teams finished in the Top 20 at the NCAA Outdoor Championship meet. The women led the way with their 13th-place finish while the men tied for 19th.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity to be part of great program and further my education at the Division 1 level. Attending K-State has always been a dream of mine and I'm looking forward to competing at the next level," Pitko stated.
Pitko is a school record holder in the javelin and 4x400 team along with being in the top 12 in 5 other events. As a sophomore she placed 7th at state in the javelin and 5th as a junior. Signing period for Track begins February 9th, 2012. Kansas State Track & Field
