Biographical Information:

I grew up outside the small town of Paxico, Kansas. My beginning formal education was at Paxico Grade School. I then attended the district high school in Alma, where I became actively involved in many academic and sporting activities.  After graduating from Wabaunsee High School, I drifted off to Butler County Community College where I received an academic and volleyball scholarship. I then continued my teaching education at Emporia State University. In May of 1998, I graduated from Emporia State with a degree in Elementary Education. I immediately started my teaching career at Lyndon Elementary as a first grade teacher. I truly enjoyed working in this district for three years and grew attached to the warm and caring community. Due to my husband’s job transfer to Kansas City, I took a job at Eudora as a second grade teacher. This district was a much larger district which brought new challenges and rewards to my teaching career. After the birth of our first child, Preston, my husband and I agreed that we wanted our family raised in a small community and live closer to family. In 2003, we moved to Eureka, Kansas. I have been teaching here at Marshall for the last seven years and have truly enjoyed working with a great staff and warm community. In May of 2008, I graduated with my masters degree in Curriculum Instruction and Development from Emporia State University. With my twelfth year of teaching in full swing, I still believe and cherish the daily rewards and the gift of education I am able to give.

I share my home with four incredible people that make my life complete; my husband, Steve, of 13 years and my three small children; Preston 7 yrs., Katelynae 4 years, and Ellianna a year. I feel blessed everyday as I continually stay busy with my family, students, and professional career. My hobbies include anything that involves my family. For my internal spiritual and physical health I enjoy jogging, spending time with friends, and sleeping.
