Practicing Multiplication

September 12, 2022

Welcome to a new school year! We have been quite busy in 3rd grade at Marshall Elementary! Third grade is such a big and exciting year, as we learn so many new concepts in third grade. One of the biggest concepts we learn is how to multiply and divide. We have been working hard to understand and practice multiplication and a model of multiplication that we work hard on is how to build and interpret an array, and then be able to write a multiplication or division equation to go with the array. Last week we reviewed arrays by playing a Scoot game in class where the students had to “scoot” (or walk) around the room to find a variety of arrays and write a multiplication equation to match the array. The kids had a good time being able to move around the room and socialize with each other, all while reviewing their multiplication facts at the same time. J
