Health Office

This semester in the Nurse’s office we are seeing a stomach bug which is causing vomiting, a few cases of strep throat, sinus congestion which is normal for this time of year, and a few students have experienced fevers.  Please help us try to reduce the exposure and occurrence of these illnesses.  If your child runs a fever >100 degrees or has been vomiting please do not send them to school until the fever has resolved without the aid of Tylenol/ibuprofen for 24 hours.  Good hygiene practices also go a long way in reducing our illnesses.  These would include good hand washing especially before eating and after using the bathroom. Also limiting the sharing of drinks or food with other students.  If we all do our part we can help make our schools a healthy environment for learning.

Upcoming on February 18-20 the Future Smiles program, a Bureau of Oral Health (BOH) program, will be here. This is part of the Flint Hills Community Health Center.   This is a program that will provide oral evaluations, cleanings, fluoride and/or sealants during the school day.  All care will be done by a registered Dental Hygienist. If you have insurance your insurance company will be billed at the time of service and if you have no insurance there is no charge to you.  There will be no out-of-pocket cost to you for any school-based care. The paperwork will be available in the office of both Marshall Elementary and the High School.  If your child already sees a dental provider every 6 months please do not sign up.  This program is intended to provide oral care for students who do not have access to oral care.
