Geometry Transformations

Mrs. Bitler’s Geometry classes are finishing up a unit on rigid motions. In the past few weeks, they’ve explored translations, rotations, and reflections. This is a good unit to let their artistic side shine. For the first project, students practiced using a compass, recreating a design which they then colored. For their second project, they followed written directions to create a Thanksgiving turkey using translations, rotations, and reflections. The final project required them to design their own picture that included at least 2 of each rigid motion and write directions so that a classmate could recreate the picture. Some of the pictures were recreated successfully and some weren’t even close. We celebrated the wins and had a few laughs, too.
