Identifying Nouns and Verbs

Welcome to a new school year! Third grade is in full swing as we begin lots of new and exciting things this year. J
When thinking about all the writing projects that we will be creating this year, it is important to review basic structure of good sentence development. Therefore, we began by studying and identifying nouns and verbs within sentences and how to identify them using pictures. Each table group of students was given a picture to observe. Then they were asked to take turns writing down nouns they saw in the picture, and then add verbs they saw in the picture as well. It was a good collaborative activity to begin the year as well as a good review of sentence structure. When finished, the students then shared the words they came up with and they were quite successful in identifying lots of good details within the pictures.
