Tornado Buddies & Preparing for Conferences

Preparing for our student-led conferences means taking time to practice. What better way to practice than to get together with our tornado buddies?
Sixth graders went down to visit the first grade classrooms so that both grades could practice their presentations. The first graders showed off their leadership notebooks with pride. Sixth grade students no longer use physical notebooks, but have online portfolios that they create on Google Slides. They showed their presentations on their computers. To build their presentations, students had to create background images, fill in graphs for their tracking data, and write out explanations of the goals they've set.
This practice with our Tornado Buddies helps everyone feel ready and confident to share with their grown-ups come Parent Teacher Conferences this week. We've enjoyed seeing the presentations so far and look forward to continued success sharing our goals and progress with the grown-ups in our lives.
