2nd Grade Math
February 18, 2026
Second graders have enjoyed being mixed up between classes for the last 6 weeks while Mrs. McCormick has been out on maternity leave. Half of her class got to join Mrs. Lazar’s class and the other half joined Mrs. Ramsey’s. We have had a lot of fun together but we have all missed Mrs. McCormick while she was away and we are ready to have her back! While she was out, students learned about different 2D and 3D shapes and their attributes. They also learned how to compose and decompose shapes. They had a chance to be creative with their shapes and show what they could compose from them. After our unit on shapes, we learned a bit about time, including quarter past, half past, and quarter til the hour. Currently, we are back to addition and subtraction with 3-digit numbers. Students have especially enjoyed learning how to use vertical form to solve those problems! I’m sure parents are loving that too! ๐
